Hey There!

My name is Amanda Holland. I’m a wife, a boy mom (x3) and the content creator for Thriving For Five.

For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with anxiety and depression. At 15, I was given a diagnosis of GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder), three prescriptions, and sent on my not so merry way. That would be the extent of treatment that I received until I came face to face with my own personal rock bottom 17 years later. It was then, after a breakdown and in the midst of an episode of mania, that I was diagnosed with Bipolar I.

Amanda Holland, mental health blogger

Thriving For Five is a mental health and wellness website where I share my stories and the resources that have helped me to dramatically improve my mental health and my life.

I want to share with you the challenges that I encountered and the concepts I have learned that allowed me to overcome those challenges or make peace with them.

On the site, you’ll find information about mental illness, personal development, and self-care. I’m an avid journal keeper. Writing has been a huge part of my recovery, so sometimes I’ll share new journal prompts with you. You’ll also find a good bit of information about minimalism. I am fully embracing the lifestyle and am the self-proclaimed guardian of our doorway, turning away all things unnecessary.

If you’d like to stay informed about new posts or other happenings with Thriving For Five, click here. You’ll receive a short, weekly email with any updates. For joining our newsletter, you’ll receive a printable template for Morning Journal Entries!

My Purpose

I’m passionate about connecting with others who struggle and about doing my part to end the stigmas surrounding mental health issues.

I have done life in a lot of wrong ways. Now, I’m learning different ways, better ways. And, finally figuring out who I am instead of running from myself. I hope through my stories you find sources of inspiration, hope, and humor.

I’m on a journey to create and discover healing, peace, forgiveness, and self-love. I set out on this path determined to change my life, and I’ve come a long way. I would love for you to join me as my journey continues.
